OREWA BEACH FAMILY SESSION
their last weeks in New Zealand before relocating back to England (where she and her husband are from!) Their little guy Jenson was just the happiest little dude, despite it being close to his bedtime. I say it alllll the time - it is SO WORTH IT to photograph your family at golden hour. The light is just incredible and most kids are just so stoked to be out and about, playing in the sand past their bedtime….they behave so well!
One of my main goals is for families to make memories during their session. One time, I photographed a little boy’s first time in the ocean and my heart was just soooo grateful to be part of that moment. Sure, you can rock up and we can snap some cute photos and be done with it BUT it could be so much more. It can be a time to connect, focus and enjoy your family. I really don’t mind if your kids are cranky. Mine get that way too. I promise we keep it fun and before you know it, you’re all laughing and actually enjoying yourselves - woot woot!
Okay, enough rambling. Enjoy some serious cuteness from my mini session with Debbie and her boys down at Orewa Beach in Auckland.
Hey, Dads - guess what? You’re such an important part of the session! I know some dads show up, not really wanting to do this session. Their partner has booked it and they’re kind of just dragged along for the ride. But you know what? You matter. You’re not just a prop. Not just an accessory. These photos matter to your family. They’ll become your legacy and something tangible your family can hold onto. They represent the bond you and your kids share, the games you play, the way you laugh together, the way they hold your hand, or ride on your shoulders. I know sometimes it’s uncomfortable to be photographed but I promise I do my best to make you comfortable and to capture realllly special memories for you and your family. Get on board, dads - you’re important, mates!!

Alright, guys - they’re just so dang cute, right?! I am so glad I was able to photograph them before they moved back to England! We chatted all about traveling with a toddler. My advice to them was - the flight won’t last forever. No matter how tired you are, just remember it’s not forever. And there will be so many relatives waiting to cuddle Jenson when you land! I know the feeling well, since I’m from America but live in New Zealand now. I’ve flown solo with my kids a few times and yes it’s exhausting but SOOOO worth it when grandparents get to meet their grandkids for the first time. Heart. Melting. Moment.
SO. If you happen to have a session with me at Orewa Beach, can I suggest some adorable places to go for a treat afterwards? A treat for a job well done? Heck yeah! Bribery during the session? Well, yes, sometimes that happens too ;)
Some adorable Orewa treats & eats include : Bakeaboo Gelato & Treats , Dear Coasties Cafe, Puff Cafe (closes early so best after a morning session), Beach House Eatery. Or just talk a walk and pop into a cute restaurant because there are so many on the waterfront there!
