MOUNTAIN GETAWAY

A magical mountain getaway, celebrating the best husband & dad we could ask for.

We drove a few hours outside of Philadelphia and enjoyed a couple days in the cutest cabin. We left Philly during a snow storm, which was a bit rough! But once we arrived it was all worth it - freshly fallen snow dusted on the quaintest cabin.

We woke up and made coffee both mornings. Tim and I sat on the chilly porch, wrapped up in a beautiful Pendleton blanket. THE most perfect way to start our day together.

Max was so happy to explore the house and (of course) found the one and only toy stored there - a plastic lawn mower that he drove for hours on end. It was also really adorable to see how he had to have his stuffed Nemo with him 90% of the time. Nemo has been his constant companion for over a year and this weekend was no different.

We're trying to do more trips like this as a family. I think it's really good for all of us to break out of our routine and go on a little adventure together. This week we're packing up to visit my family in Chicago for Christmas. Max has proven to be such a happy traveler. I think he just loves exploring new places, so traveling is pretty great with him. Don't get me wrong - we've had our fair share of meltdowns...like one morning we went out to breakfast and he threw himself on the floor, screaming because he couldn't play with the glass Christmas decorations on the bar. YIKES. But we take each tantrum / meltdown as calmly as possible, not letting it ruin our mood. Patience is key, and it's so helpful to have the most patient husband on the planet in these situations. He always swoops in and calms us all down.

Can we agree that there's nothing cuter than a kid in a snowsuit?! The swish-swish-swish of the snowpants might actually take the prize though. SO ADORABLE. I was cracking up with joy every time Max started running around in them.

Merry Christmas! I hope it's a magical one.
